Out in the market for some womens running shoes? Asics has a wide variety of running shoes for women!
Lets dig in!
Today we are going to be discussing ASICS, the Japanese shoe giant which has some pretty great offerings that you might want to consider.
ASICS women’s running shoes continue to be some of the best and most well received in the market, they are renowned for their features and extremely comfortable fits which can help you to run faster, better.
However, before we go over to the shoes themselves, let’s take a look at some of the bASICS of how you should go about selecting a running shoe.
What Makes A Running Shoe Worth Running With?
Why not just opt for a simple pair of sneakers and go out on a run with them, or what’s wrong with walking shoes for that matter?
While you can most definitely run with either of them, you will stand to reap long term benefits if you were to buy a pair of running shoes.
Running shoes are specially designed to counter the heavy exertion that results while you are running.
These shoes have a lot more padding than regular walking shoes or sneakers do.
They are also designed to take on a lot more punishment than regular shoes can, as most casual sports shoes won’t last long if they were used regularly for some serious pavement pounding.
As if such a categorization was not enough, running shoes are further available as either trail running shoes or road running shoes.
Road running shoes are designed for harder surfaces such as pavements, although they can be used for occasional jaunts into the woods as well.
These shoes are far better cushioned than any other shoes out there are weighted just right for the roads.
Trail running shoes on the other hand have to negotiate all sorts of obstacles such as dirt, mud and water.
These shoes too are adequately padded for the job at hand however they are also made with waterproof material, essentially making them waterproof shoes, which allows the wearer to use them in wet conditions, comfortably.

There are certain innovations that ASICS running shoes carry within them which make them truly spectacular and different from all the other types in the market.

Shoes such as the Gel series have an external heel counter which help to keep a good grip on your heel, they also offer a lot of protection for the foot and remain surprisingly light at the same time.
With all that said, let’s take a look at some of the finest ASICS womens running shoes that are currently doing the round in the market…
Asics Gel Cumulus 16:
The Cumulus series are one of Asics most popular shoes out there and in its 16th iteration; it has more to offer than ever!
These shoes, like their name suggest, are quite literally like walking on a cloud.
The new shoes are 1 ounce lighter than their previous version and come with Asics new Fluid ride technology that makes your strides even softer than before.
The Cumulus makes generous use of foam cushioning that leaves almost no room for discomfort.
Asics has added FluidRide compound that is also seen in the Nimbus series.
This particular compound is about 15% lighter and also cushier than other midsole foams.
Asics has also increased the size of the GEL cushions in the Cumulus 16, both in the rearfoot and the forefoot region.
Unlike the Nimbus, which uses a lot more GEL in its construction, runners have reported that the Cumulus actually feels a lot better when put on.
The following are some of the Cumulus 16’s salient features:
Impact Guidance System: Asics proprietary IGS system allows you to execute the perfect strides. The IGS promotes a natural gait, right from heel to strike-off.
Guidance Trusstic System: Provides mid foot structural integrity and enhances your gait further.
ComforDry Sockliner: Provides more cushioning as well as anti odor properties.
The Cumulus 16 continues Asics tradition of providing high quality shoes and builds on the success of its predecessors.
A neutral shoe, the Cumulus 16’s cushioning system really imparts a feeling that you are running with cloud underneath your feet.
There are other shoes out there that are lighter than the Cumulus, however its superior cushioning really makes it different from the others.
ASICS Gel-Kayano 21:
For the sportier of our readers, we have the ASICS Gel Kayano 21; which is the successor to the very popular Gel Kayano 20 and is the latest in this series of shoe has all the wild looks that can help you stand out in a crowd.
Like most ASICS products, the Kayano 21, is a little towards the pricier side, however it makes up for it by being extremely rich in features.
ASICS introduced the Kayano series of shoes for women with mid to high pronation which is the outward movement of the foot during each stride that creates natural shock absorption.
While natural pronation helps to stop injuries and facilitate good running, over-pronation can lead to stress related problems in the feet.
Here are some of the advantages that the latest Kayano comes with…
- A brand new Dynamic Duomax Medial Post System – which allows for better, softer over-pronation correction.
- I.G.S Impact Guidance System- that forces linked componentry from heel stike to toe off.
- FluidFit upper technology – that promotes a snug, glove like fit.
- ComfortDry X-40 Sockliner – protects against moisture and provides a dry, healthy environment with antimicrobial properties.
- Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL cushioning system – which absorbs shock and provides a very smooth transition to midstance.
- The heels come with AHAR (ASICS High Abrasion Resistance) Carbon Rubber for a better grip.
- Guidance Trusstic System – provides mid foot support as well as increases gait efficiency.
All in all, the Kayano 21 is an excellent shoe which does a lot to help you run better, especially if you have flatter foot.
